Three aged care workers on what it's really like in the industry
RN Jocelyn Hofman starts crying when she describes what information technology is like to work in aged care. "It upsets me because I have holy my life to aged care, but my make is being devalued," she says.
In Ms Hofman's 34 years in the sector, she's seen nurse-to-resident physician ratios plummet.
It's just one of many an areas of concern highlighted in last twelvemonth's Regal Commission into Aged Care Character and Rubber.
While it's been an opportunity for many in the industry to be held to account, spare a thought process for the workers who are tranquilize struggling to provide introductory care to residents.

Ms Hofman's message to the government is lyrate: "It is time to stop dragging your feet.
'It's depressing, a continual fight'
Registered nurse and breast feeding union extremity Rebecca Woodfield has clocked up a quarter of a C working in aged care, and currently works as a coach.
Ms Woodfield says without dedicated aged care staff working extra hours unpaid, residents would not even get basic care.
"It is demoralising, I know I want to do much more, I know the faculty I work with want to do so much more," she says
"It's depressing and a continual fight."
Recently she was told about a facility where one own care assistant was required to mete out medication for 50 residents.
"There are thusly many issues with that," she said.
She gets emotional when asked to reflect on wherefore she continues to work in the diligence under such difficult conditions – she stays because of the residents.
"These people have stipendiary their taxes all their lives, just because they are peaked and unable to hold dear themselves shouldn't mean value they lose out.
"I am ardent about this. IT is the lone holistic nursing out there, it is a great domain to work in, we just ask a bit of help."
'No clock to just jaw'
Enrolled nurse and ANMF work site representative Adam Weaver yearned-for to work in worn care because atomic number 2 wanted to make a divergence in the lives of elderly Australians.
Atomic number 2's worked in the sector for 18 years and has noticed a decline in care, staffing ratios, lifestyle and activities for residents.
"Imagine you're 85 years old, and you wake at 7am, and you take up 15 minutes to get ready and go to the shower down and go to the toilet. Things are hurried and missed," atomic number 2 says.
"There is zero fourth dimension to just gossip. No sentence to be single-on-one with residents."
Also every bit mandating staffing ratios, the ANMF too wants the politics to fund 10-15 per cent wage increase for all aged care workers to better protect and retain quality staff.
"People don't understand how hard it is. You have to physically coiffe stuff for people, tumbling, showering, cleaning people, you get very pledged to these people as well," Mr Weaver says.
He says every Australian should care about the say of aged manage.
"This is our future, this is what people possess to spirit forward to," helium says.
